Summary:
|
On November 4, 2008, the voters of the District approved Measure Z to authorize the sale of up to $125,000,000.00 of General Obligation Bonds. Education Code Section 15278 required the Board of Trustees to adopt a resolution establishing an independent Citizens' Oversight Committee and to appoint a minimum of seven (7) members within sixty (60) days after the certification of the election results by the Board of Trustees.
Education Code 15282 requires that a minimum of seven members be appointed and that at least one member be from each of the following groups: (1) a person active in a business organization, (2) a person active in a senior citizens’ organization, (3) a person active in a bona fide taxpayers’ organization, (4) a parent or guardian of a student in the district, and (5) a parent active in a parent teacher organization. No employee or official of the district and no vendor, contractor or consultant of the district may serve as a member.
To completely fulfill the requirements of the Education Code 15282 it is necessary that the District fill vacancies. There are no positions vacant on the committee.
