On January 6, 2025, Highland Academy Charter School ("Highland Academy") submitted to the Beaumont Unified School District ("District") a charter petition requesting renewal of its Charter for a term of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030. The District Governing Board has previously approved and renewed the Highland Academy Charter, with the current term of the Charter running through and including June 30, 2025.
The Charter Schools Act requires that the District Board hold a public hearing on the provisions of the Highland Academy renewal Charter. During this agenda item, the Charter Petitioner and the public have the opportunity to comment concerning the proposed renewal. The Board may ask questions, but no action will be taken at the public hearing. The Board will act on the renewal request at its meeting on April 22, 2025.

The administration recommends that the Board of Trustees of the Beaumont Unified School District receive an update from Highland Academy Charter School and conduct a public hearing on the charter petition requesting the renewal of its charter.
