Summary: The Zero Emission School Bus Infrastructure (ZESBI)Incentive Project is funded through Proposition 98, which allocates funding for K-12 education and community colleges. Senate Bill 114 directs these funds to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the California Energy Commission (CEC), which in turn provide grants to local educational agencies for the purchase of zero-emission school buses and supporting infrastructure. CALSTART has been selected to administer the ZESBI program and requires school districts to submit application forms to determine eligibility and prioritize projects.
