California Education Code section 17211 and corresponding provisions of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations require a public hearing be held relative to established school site selection standards—the same standards that the California Department of Education uses to review and approve school sites. This hearing allows the Board of Trustees to evaluate the proposed Atwell TK-8 School Site using the site selection standards established by the State Department of Education. It provides an opportunity for the community to offer input and ensures transparency and public participation in the decision-making process regarding the acquisition of real property for new school sites or additions to existing ones.
